[ As soon as the sun begins to set, a strange mist has settled over the beach. It's not incredibly thick, though far enough out one might see strange shadows shifting about. Maybe it's more monsters? Maybe it's just other people? Maybe it's both. There are quiet high-pitched and excited whispers that don't sound like they come from anything approaching a human throat, but who can say if that's really what you're hearing? They're only audible when nothing else is going on, and only in certain spots. Could just be the wind, you know?

What's important is that despite the spookiness, it's also an ethereally beautiful night - the moon and stars are bright in the sky, bright enough that other sources of light aren't really needed in less misty areas - the water reflects the light in such a way that it glows gently, and that's to say nothing of the bioluminescent lights that dance beneath the waves. The mist itself carries a warmth that makes it a perfect time to go for some moonlit swimming (or, you know, skinny dipping) if one is inclined. ]

[ At some point, somehow, you fell into a body of water. Whatever this body of water was, whether it was a puddle or a vast wide ocean, it was deep enough to drown in.

And even Strong Swimmers(tm) do drown. Because there's a song rising from the depths, one that calls so strongly that their body refuses to let you do anything but let the tides take you.

Once enough time has passed that an average person would have passed out, anyone still conscious would feel themselves being grabbed by something in the inky blackness, something that...is maybe hands? Or maybe tentacles, or maybe some sort of membrane...

They're carried back to shore, where out of the darkness comes a a woman and a giant fucking sea monster to stare. ]

Oh, we managed to save you just in time! The sea...it's very dangerous, you know.
